To make this recipe simple, I purchased Mrs. Smith’s pies from Walmart. I decided to go with Pumpkin Pie and Cherry Pie — two of my holiday favorites. I also picked up some Cool Whip to use as filling in the trifles.
Holiday Pie Trifle Mason Jar Gifts
Ingredients:
Mrs. Smith’s pies in different varieties
Cool Whip
Mason Jars
Directions:
Bake the pies according to package directions. Once they’re done, allow to cool to room temperature.
Scoop some of the pie crust and filling into the bottom of a mason jar. Add a layer of Cool Whip on top of it.
Repeat with a layer of pie crust and filling, then a layer of Cool Whip until you reach the top of the jar. I made my layers pretty thick, so it only took two of each layer to fill my jars.
Add the lid to the jars, and get them ready to serve as gifts. I stamped some disposable wooden forks with festive holiday sayings (Be Merry! Eat Pie!) to add a fun decorative touch to the finished product. Top it off with some fabric and baker’s twine and you’ve got a gorgeous holiday gift!
Note: These should be stored in the refrigerator until ready to eat. Just reheat them up to enjoy!
